Frequently Asked Questions

What is BPM?

BPM stands for Beats Per Minute. It measures tempo — how many beats occur in one minute. 60 BPM means one beat per second, 120 BPM means two beats per second.

How does tap tempo work?

Tap the TAP TEMPO button in rhythm with the beat you want. After 4+ taps, the metronome calculates the average interval and sets the BPM automatically.

What time signature should I use?

4/4 is the most common (pop, rock, jazz). 3/4 is for waltzes. 6/8 is common in folk and some rock. 2/4 is for marches. Choose based on the music you're practicing.

Can I use this for live performance?

Yes! The metronome uses the Web Audio API for precise timing. For live use, connect your device to a speaker or use headphones.

Does it work offline?

Once loaded, the metronome works without an internet connection since all processing happens in your browser.

What keyboard shortcuts are available?
